Orecchiette Pasta with Bacon & Broccoli

Translated at “little ears” from the word orecchiette – these delightful little pasta shapes are guaranteed to soak up this delicious pasta sauce.


  • 500 gms packet orrecchiete pasta
  • 1/2 broccolli, stalks and florets separated & chopped
  • 1 garlic clove
  • 4 tablespoons olive oil
  • 8 rashers bacon, chopped
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • Salt & Pepper
  • 1 small red chilli, chopped


  1. Bring a pot of water to the boil, then add some salt and the pasta.
  2. In a frying pan, saute the onion, bacon, broccoli stalks, garlic & chilli until it cooks approx 5 minutes stirring constantly.
  3. Then add the broccoli florets, stir and cook for a further 5 minutes or until broccoli softens. Turn the heat off.
  4. Strain the cooked pasta, reserving one ladel full and adding it to the broccoli dish, stirring it through.
  5. Add the cooked pasta to the broccoli pan and stir.
  6. Finish off with some chopped parsley and parmesan
